UN food program still unable to enter North Korea to provide aid, official says

Country director says World Food Program ready to resume operations in DPRK, stressing uncertainty about food situation

The World Food Program (WFP) is still unable to reenter North Korea more than three years after withdrawing staff during the pandemic, the U.N. organization’s top official for the DPRK said Wednesday, leaving it unable to provide food aid.

But WFP country director Anthea Webb emphasized that the organization is “ready and willing” to resume operations, expressing hope that its staff will receive the OK to return “in the not-so-distant future.”
