ROK Red Cross offers humanitarian aid to North Korea after devastating floods

Despite extensive damage, expert says DPRK unlikely to accept assistance as it plays up Kim Jong Un’s disaster response

South Korea’s Red Cross has offered to send humanitarian aid to North Korea after devastating flooding near the Chinese border displaced thousands of people and wiped out a whole village.

“We express our willingness to promptly provide urgently needed supplies to the North Korean disaster victims from a humanitarian and compatriotic standpoint,” a representative of South Korea’s Red Cross announced through Seoul’s unification ministry on Thursday.
