A North Korean wrestler became the country’s first woman to win an Olympic medal in the sport on Thursday, taking home bronze in the 53kg weight class at the Paris Games.

The 24-year-old Choe Hyo Gyong defeated her German opponent Annika Wendle by a score of 10-0, achieving a “victory by technical superiority” and not conceding a single point.

Choe dominated the faceoff from the beginning, with Wendle injuring her knee just 19 seconds into the match after a successful takedown by the DPRK wrestler.
