Russia’s chief prosecutor is visiting North Korea for the first time ever, the prosecutor’s office announced on Monday, in the latest sign of the two countries’ efforts to expand ties beyond arms trade.

Igor Krasnov is set to meet his DPRK counterpart Kim Chol Won and discuss issues of bilateral cooperation with other officials, his office said in a press release, without stating exactly when he arrived.

Kim was appointed director of the Central Public Prosecutors Office during a year-end plenum of the Workers Party of Korea’s Central Committee that ran from Dec. 26 to 30.
