North Korea raised the alarm about the risk of flooding on Monday, as seasonal monsoon rains lashed the peninsula.

In a series of alerts starting from 9 a.m., state television warned of heavy rain, high waves and strong winds, classifying the warning as level two on its three-tier scale of weather advisories.

State media cautioned that the high waves could coincide with high tides and “lead to flooding of public buildings, residential houses and farmland.”
