North Korea destroys South Korean fire station in Mount Kumgang tourist region

Unification ministry says it will consider legal action against Pyongyang over demolition of ROK government property

North Korea tore down a fire station built by South Korea in the Mount Kumgang tourist region at the end of April, Seoul’s unification ministry announced Friday, a move that one expert said will do little to damage inter-Korean relations, which are already at a low point.

The unification ministry stated during a regular press briefing that the fire station was one of two in the area built with South Korean financing and condemned Pyongyang for unilaterally dismantling the ROK-owned facility.
