Interview: Human rights envoy says US isn’t just ‘wagging finger’ at North Korea

Julie Turner says US is willing to discuss its own record with Pyongyang and responds to DPRK criticism of her work

The U.S. is not just “wagging its finger” at North Korea over human rights but is willing to discuss America’s human rights record with Pyongyang as well, the U.S. special envoy for North Korean human rights told NK News on Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview during her second official visit to South Korea, Julie Turner emphasized her determination to increase the free flow of information into North Korea to empower its citizens, and the need to dismantle the DPRK’s political prison system.
