Chinese man in Australia faces extradition to US over North Korea smuggling

Australian police arrested Jin Guanghua at US request for alleged role in raising cash for DPRK through tobacco sales

A Chinese man is awaiting extradition to the U.S. in Australia for his alleged role in raising cash for the North Korean regime in a multimillion-dollar tobacco smuggling operation, Australian authorities confirmed to NK News on Tuesday.

The Australian federal police arrested Jin Guanghua on March 21, 2023 after “a provisional request” from American authorities “for his extradition to face criminal charges in the United States,” according to a spokesperson for Australia’s Attorney General’s Department.
