North Korea shutters embassy in Libya marking sixth closure in Africa

DPRK missions subject to spate of closures since last year which some experts say relates to lack of economic benefits

North Korea has closed its embassy in Libya, South Korea’s foreign ministry confirmed to NK News, marking the latest in a series of mission closures since late last year.

The foreign ministry also confirmed the closure of the DPRK’s consulate in Hong Kong on Tuesday. However, NK News had already reported on the closure last year after China’s foreign ministry released a statement verifying the news.
