North Korea’s flagship brewery has launched a new low-calorie version of the famous Taedonggang beer, in a move that one expert said could help satisfy overlooked demand for light beer among weight-conscious citizens.

The Taedonggang Brewing Company recently released a “‘sugar-cut beer’ with low sugar content and calories” that is “very effective for sports enthusiasts and people with overweight bodies,” according to the Choson Sinbo, a pro-DPRK outlet in Japan with close ties to the regime.
