North Korea opens new hydroelectric dam in bid to solve ‘power problem’

Expert says plant could improve lives of locals, while location suggests it may also power ski resort

North Korea opened a new hydroelectric power plant in the country’s southeast last week, according to state media, infrastructure that an expert said could positively affect the lives of local residents in a country that has long struggled with persistent electricity shortages.
