Russian and North Korean officials discussed joint exploration of precious and rare earth metals and boosting food trade during meetings in Pyongyang this week, Russia’s natural resources and ecology minister said Friday, a day after his delegation left the country.

In a post on social media, Alexander Kozlov said the two sides “resolved” issues such as “joint geological exploration of deposits of gold, iron and rare earth metals” in talks held as part of a commission on bilateral cooperation.

Moreover, the two sides agreed on “joint offshore exploration of hydrocarbons,” Kozlov said in a statement published by his ministry Friday.
