The towering North Korean basketball star denied a shot at NBA glory

7-foot-6 Ri Myong Hun would have been tallest player in league history, but sanctions and tensions scuppered his chances

The North Korean women’s basketball team may not have won a medal at the Asian Games this month, but it did produce a towering new star.

The 6-foot, 9-inch tall center Pak Jin A led the charge for the women’s team throughout the international competition, using her size to dominate her competitors and average a tournament-leading 28.7 points and 2.8 blocks per game.
