New US envoy on North Korean human rights makes first visit to Seoul

Julie Turner discusses China’s repatriation of DPRK defectors with top ROK officials, days after being sworn in

The new U.S. special envoy on North Korean human rights visited Seoul and met with top South Korean officials on Monday, days after being sworn in to fill the position vacant for more than six years.

Longtime State Department official Julie Turner was sworn in on Friday and is visiting South Korea from Oct. 16-18, according to a State Department press release.
