The U.S., South Korea and Japan all announced independent sanctions against North Korea-linked individuals and entities in recent days, in response to Pyongyang’s efforts to develop satellites and drones.

The three countries’ announcements of the sanctions in short succession seeks to signal their trilateral coordination against DPRK threats, one expert told NK News.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Russia-based DPRK national Jon Jin Yong, Russian national Sergey Mikhaylovich Kozlov, and Kozlov’s firm Intellekt LLC as secondary sanctions risks on Thursday for allegedly generating revenue for Pyongyang’s weapons of mass destruction program.
