Seoul sanctions North Korean officials for suspected arms sales to Russia

Other individuals designated for alleged ties to development of DPRK’s nuclear and missile programs

South Korea has unilaterally sanctioned North Korea’s defense chief, nine other individuals and two organizations for their alleged involvement in arms sales with Russia and other countries, the development of the DPRK’s nuclear and missile programs, and illegal financial transactions.

The ROK foreign ministry said in a statement Thursday that the new designations target North Korean officials and a Slovak national — who is also subject to U.S. sanctions — for their alleged “involvement in arms deals with Russia and other countries, North Korea's nuclear and missile development, and illegal financial transactions.”
