Unification ministry says it may fine Youn Mee-hyang for attending Chongryon event to commemorate Kanto Massacre

A South Korean congresswoman is under investigation for attending an event hosted by the pro-North Korea organization of ethnic Koreans in Japan, facing a potential fine for her actions.

Independent lawmaker Youn Mee-hyang said in a statement that she joined the event in Tokyo on Friday commemorating Korean victims of the Kanto Massacre, when vigilante groups killed thousands of Koreans in the wake of the 1923 Great Kanto earthquake.
