North Korea kicked off mass celebrations of its 75th founding anniversary a few hours before midnight on Friday with a large-scale "militia" parade, featuring Worker-Peasant Red Guards, multiple rocket launchers and armed students passing through Kim Il Sung Square.

Kim Jong Un attended the event and brought along his daughter Kim Ju Ae but did not give a speech, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Saturday morning.
