Ex-North Korean ambassador to China returned home after decade abroad: Seoul

South Korea foreign ministry says Ji Jae Ryong took flight from Beijing in late August, as DPRK loosens COVID controls

North Korea’s top envoy to China for more than a decade returned home late last month, according to Seoul’s foreign ministry, after he was marooned in Beijing for more than two years despite leaving his post.

DPRK flag carrier Air Koryo operated multiple flights from Aug. 22 to and from Beijing, and one of the flights carried former Ambassador Ji Jae Ryong, the foreign ministry told NK News on Tuesday.
