The U.N. Command (UNC) has been in contact with North Korea about the American soldier who crossed into the DPRK last week, the UNC’s deputy commander confirmed Monday. But in remarks at a press conference in Seoul, Lieutenant General Andrew Harrison declined to provide additional details about how North Korea responded and how much progress the UNC has made in securing his release. “A conversation has commenced with the Korean People’s Army through the mechanisms of the armistice agreement,” Harrison told reporters. “I won’t and can’t say anything that could prejudice that process.” He added: “Obviously, there is someone’s welfare © Korea Risk Group.
