Seoul slaps new sanctions on North Korea after latest ICBM test

Unilateral designations target 4 individuals and 3 firms for generating currency for DPRK nuclear and missile programs

South Korea has announced new unilateral sanctions against several North Korean individuals and entities over their alleged roles in advancing the country’s nuclear ambitions, in an apparent response to the DPRK’s launch of a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile earlier this week.

The new sanctions target four senior DPRK officials as well as three firms accused of generating illicit funds for Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs, Seoul’s foreign ministry said in a press release.
