Hyundai chief cancels plans to visit North Korea after Pyongyang’s rejection

DPRK earlier ruled out visits by South Koreans following reports Hyundai sought to hold memorial at Mount Kumgang

A chairwoman of the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Group has canceled her plans to visit North Korea’s Mount Kumgang for a memorial service, Seoul’s unification ministry announced on Monday.

Hyun Jeong-eun had sought to hold the memorial for her late husband Chung Mong-hun, the former chairman of Hyundai Group who invested heavily in inter-Korean tourism at the scenic area.
