US, ROK, Japan look to share real-time North Korean missile data by year’s end

Expert says timeline to implement scheme ‘realistic’ but that system vulnerable to political shifts in Seoul and Tokyo

The U.S., South Korea and Japan announced plans on Saturday to start sharing real-time data about North Korean missile launches before the end of the year, with one expert noting that successful implementation requires a system that is not vulnerable to the ups and downs of South Korea-Japan relations.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and his South Korean and Japanese counterparts Lee Jong-sup and Yasukazu Hamada made the announcement following a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, the U.S. Department of Defense stated in a press release.
