South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol called on a global nonproliferation body to strengthen efforts to tackle North Korea’s nuclear program on Tuesday, stating that Pyongyang poses a growing security threat.

In a video message to a high-level meeting of the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) on Jeju Island, Yoon expressed concern about weapons of mass destruction (WMD) amid rising tensions across the world, the presidential office said in a press release.

“Despite U.N. Security Council sanctions, North Korea continues to illegally procure materials and funds required for nuclear and missile development,” he said.
