US offers $5M for information on North Korea sanctions buster

Authorities seek arrest of Singaporean Kwek Kee Seng for sending illicit fuel to North Korea over several years

The U.S. is offering up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest of a Singaporean businessman who helped smuggle oil to North Korea, the State Department announced Thursday.

The bounty comes less than a month after the U.S. Treasury sanctioned Kwek Kee Seng and his companies for helping the country import several shipments of refined petroleum products between 2019 and 2021, effectively cutting him and his companies off from the U.S. financial system.
