NGO chief arrested on charges of smuggling cash into North Korea: Prosecutors

South Korean man allegedly violated foreign transactions law as head of organization that engaged with DPRK

The chairman of a Seoul-based nongovernmental organization has been taken into custody in relation to an investigation into illegal business dealings with North Korea, a spokesperson for the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office confirmed to NK News on Thursday.

The arrest of the suspect surnamed An took place on Wednesday over charges that he allegedly violated South Korea’s foreign exchange transactions act as head of the Asia Pacific Exchange Association (APIA).
