UNICEF wins sanctions exemption to send large aid shipment to North Korea

It's unclear when the health and nutrition supplies will reach DPRK’s neediest as country maintains COVID controls

UNICEF has received approval to send a large humanitarian shipment to North Korea that includes goods ranging from medical equipment to car tires, marking its second exemption from U.N. sanctions this year.

The international aid organization will have one year to deliver the goods with a total value of US$2,659,667 to the DPRK, a letter dated Oct. 14 and posted on the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) website on Monday shows.
