Taiwanese man sentenced to prison for smuggling 3K tons of oil to North Korea

Huang Wang Ken faces year behind bars after court says he ‘seriously damaged’ Taiwan’s reputation with 2018 oil transfer

A Taiwanese court sentenced a local businessman to a year behind bars on Thursday for smuggling thousands of tons of oil into North Korea.

According to a Kaohsiung court press release, Huang Wang Ken (黄旺根) confessed to moving 3,000 tons of refined petroleum into North Korea across several shipments in 2018.
