DPRK profiles high schooler working construction ‘to repay Kim Jong Un’s love’

North Korean TV airs interview with student from prestigious school as part of ideological campaign targeting youth

North Korean state television has aired an interview with a high school student who said she volunteered at a construction site to “repay Kim Jong Un’s love,” as DPRK propagandists continue to push efforts to mobilize youth for physical labor and shape them into party loyalists.

The student Pak Ryu Kyon told state media in an interview aired Saturday night that she studies at Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School, one of two prestigious academies that celebrated their 75th anniversary earlier this month with an event attended by leader Kim Jong Un.
