North Korean IT workers sell their skills on freelance platform Upwork: Report

DPRK allegedly hired Russians to create accounts for North Koreans to evade sanctions, UN Panel of Experts report states

North Korean information technology workers are peddling their services on the popular American freelancing platform Upwork, according to a forthcoming U.N. Panel of Experts report seen by NK News, in what appears to be a novel campaign to evade sanctions on overseas labor.

DPRK tech workers in Russia and the United Arab Emirates utilized the U.S website throughout 2021 and 2022 to secure freelance assignments while falsifying their nationalities, according to the Panel report.
