The parents of Otto Warmbier have awarded a high-profile North Korean defector a $15,000 scholarship to attend a top American university, months after a U.S. court awarded them hundreds of thousands of dollars in seized DPRK assets over their son’s death.

Seohyun Lee, the daughter of a former high-ranking North Korean official, confirmed her receipt of the scholarship to NK News on Saturday.

“I’m very grateful for the Otto Warmbier Foundation Scholarship for supporting me in pursuing my dream of freeing North Korean people and bringing a positive change into North Korea,” she said. “I hope this helps others to
