The U.S. dedicated a new addition to the Korean War memorial on Washington’s National Mall on Wednesday, adding the names of nearly 44,000 soldiers killed in the conflict with North Korea to a new Wall of Remembrance. 

The dedication ceremony took place on the 69th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended hostilities in the 1950-1953 war. 

The wall consists of ten panels carrying the names of 36,634 American soldiers and 7,174 Korean soldiers in the Korean Augmentation To the United States Army (KATUSA) who died during the conflict, which is often referred to as the “forgotten war”
