South Korea will impose new unilateral sanctions on North Korea if it conducts a nuclear test as anticipated, Seoul’s foreign ministry said Tuesday.

A ministry official told reporters during a background briefing that the Yoon administration is reviewing the measures at its disposal, taking into account sanctions already imposed by the U.S. and other countries.

If Seoul follows through on new measures, they would mark the first new South Korean unilateral sanctions in more than four years, according to the official.
