North Korea high on US agenda during Biden’s upcoming trip to East Asia

Expert says salience in the international community exactly what DPRK hopes to achieve through missile tests this year

North Korea will be a key topic of conversation between U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol during the upcoming U.S.-ROK summit, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a press conference this week.

“North Korea will of course be on the agenda — a prominent part of the agenda,” Psaki said. Yoon takes office May 10, and Biden will travel to Seoul to meet the new ROK president May 20 to 21.
