Kim Jong Un sends letter to Putin emphasizing ‘solidarity’ with Russia

DPRK leader says ‘strategic and traditional’ ties will continue between Pyongyang and Moscow

North Korean state media on Tuesday published a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, congratulating Russia on the occasion of its Victory Day holiday.

Russia celebrated the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany with a massive military parade in Moscow on May 9. Putin, who has before said invading Ukraine was necessary to “denazify” the country, delivered a speech defending Russian aggression against Ukraine as a “forced” response to Western policies.
