North Korean leader Kim Jong Un convened top officials early Sunday to discuss the country’s response to a nationwide outbreak of COVID-19, state media reported later in the morning, as official statistics show declining fever cases and deaths.

Politburo members during the meeting “positively evaluated” the country’s virus measures, which have primarily consisted of near-total lockdowns, according to the state-run Rodong Sinmun.

They also discussed “continuously stabilizing and improving the overall anti-epidemic situation while further consolidating the experiences gained in the early period of the anti-epidemic work,” the newspaper reported.
