UN Panel of Experts details North Korea sanctions violations in latest report

A roundup of NK News and NK Pro coverage of key findings on weapons development, illegal shipping, cyberattacks and more

The U.N. Panel of Experts on North Korea has publicly released its latest report, laying out evidence that shows how Pyongyang has pushed forward its nuclear and ballistic missile objectives and violated international sanctions on everything from oil imports to DPRK nationals working abroad.

The publication of the report, which covers the period from Aug. 4, 2021 to Jan. 28, 2022, came around a week after the U.N. Security Council extended the Panel’s mandate for another year late last month, despite apparent disagreement between permanent members the U.S., China and Russia on imposing new sanctions in response to North Korea’s rapid series of weapons tests this year, including of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
