South Korea’s defense ministry weighing reactivation of US-ROK defense group

President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol’s team says it discussed proposal with ministry due to North Korea’s ‘military trends’

South Korea’s defense ministry is weighing whether to reactivate a high-level U.S.-South Korean military working group, according to the transition team of president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol, as the incoming administration calibrates its defense posture in response to “intensifying” North Korean missile tests.

The defense ministry and the presidential transition team discussed the possibility in a meeting on Tuesday “based on recent military trends in North Korea,” Yoon’s camp said in a press release.
