North Korean, Russian officials talk ties amid ‘changes’ in world order: Moscow

Latest meeting may suggest deepening ties but expert says sanctions against Russia make concrete collaboration difficult

Senior North Korean and Russian officials met in Moscow this week to discuss deepening bilateral ties amid “changes taking place in the international arena,” marking the latest high-level affirmation of DPRK-Russia relations in the face of widespread backlash over the war in Ukraine.

According to a press release from Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Moscow’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Morgulov spoke with North Korea’s Ambassador to Russia Sin Hong Chul on Tuesday.
