News UNSC members say ‘silence’ risks normalizing North Korean missile testsLatest UN Security Council meeting produces no new sanctions as Washington pushes to increase pressure on Pyongyang
The U.S. and eight other countries have condemned North Korea’s latest missile launch, warning that inaction against the DPRK risks “normalizing” missile tests and further destabilizing the region. The appeal came in a joint statement following a U.N. Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Friday to address Pyongyang’s recent test of its most powerful missile since 2017, with no agreement on expanding sanctions against the DPRK. “We call on all Council members to speak with one voice in condemning these dangerous and unlawful acts,” the countries asserted in the joint statement, criticizing the lack of a response after North Korea’s record-setting © Korea Risk Group.
