US sanctions six North Korean nationals following ‘hypersonic’ missile tests

The move follows a joint statement from members of the UN Security Council condemning the recent launches

The Biden administration has sanctioned six North Koreans, one Russian national and a Russian firm for acquiring goods for North Korea’s weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and ballistic missile-related programs, Washington announced on Wednesday.

The move comes after North Korea tested two “hypersonic” missile tests in less than a week. Washington had previously applied sanctions to North Korea’s defense minister, Ri Yong Gil, and other DPRK entities just last month.
