The U.S. ambassador to the U.N. criticized the committee overseeing North Korean sanctions on Wednesday for failing to effectively implement sanctions in the wake of the DPRK’s “reckless provocations.”

Linda Thomas-Greenfield also condemned North Korea’s recent ballistic missile tests, including of a new submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) on Tuesday, as “unlawful” and “unacceptable.”

“Frankly, the 1718 committee is not doing its job. We need to enforce these violations. We need to ramp up the implementation of the sanctions. And we’ve not done that,” Thomas-Greenfield said during a press briefing.
