Foreign ministry official accuses council of double standards, claiming new hypersonic missile is for self-defense

A top North Korean government official has denounced the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) for criticizing the country’s recent missile test, accusing the council of a “double-dealing standard.”

In a statement, Jo Chol Su, director of the DPRK foreign ministry’s Department of International Organizations, denied that the country’s launch of the Hwasong-8 hypersonic missile on Sept. 27 posed a threat to international peace and security.
