Conservatives question Moon’s push to formally end war with North Korea

Lawmakers raise concerns about Pyongyang’s security demands, as Seoul says effort is first step toward nuclear talks

Conservative South Korean lawmakers voiced concerns about Seoul’s renewed push to formally end the Korean War on Monday, calling for skepticism of North Korea’s demands.

During the National Assembly’s annual inspection of the unification ministry, one opposition lawmaker warned that Pyongyang’s call for Seoul to withdraw its “double standards” pertains to “central issues in South Korean national security,” such as the deployment of U.S. Forces Korea and joint U.S.-ROK drills.
