Australia deploys warship to enforce UN sanctions against North Korea

The routine activity is focused on countering DPRK’s evolving sanctions evasion methods, expert says

Australia has assigned a warship to monitor North Korean sanctions violations, a routine deployment that follows Canberra’s recent signing of a trilateral security pact with the U.S. and U.K.

Australia’s defense department announced on Thursday that Australia has deployed the Navy frigate HMAS Warramunga to monitor Pyongyang’s ship-to-ship transfers of goods, which are sanctioned by the U.N. Security Council (UNSC).
