News US open to possibility of formally ending Korean War: PentagonA peace treaty between the two Koreas has been a key objective for Seoul’s Moon Jae-in administration
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) said that Washington is open to discuss formally ending the Korean War, repeating the Biden administration’s stance that talks with the DPRK can happen without preconditions. The remarks follow an address to the United Nations by South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Tuesday where he proposed a formal end-of-war declaration. John Kirby, press secretary at the Pentagon, said Wednesday at a briefing that “We continue to seek engagement with the DPRK to address a variety of issues, and we’re open to discussing the possibility of an end of war declaration.
