US Secretary of State to urge ASEAN to ‘fully implement’ North Korea sanctions

Virtual meetings with ASEAN ministers this week present avenue for U.S. to push continued sanctions enforcement

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken hopes to persuade members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to fully implement North Korea sanctions, the State Department said on Monday.

Blinken will join five virtual ministerial meetings related to ASEAN this week and will discuss North Korea and other issues with the 10-member states, a department spokesperson said during a press briefing.
