New commander takes charge of US Forces Korea

Gen. Paul LaCamera brings Indo-Pacific, special operations experience to S. Korea as Washington builds back alliances

General Paul LaCamera took charge of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) as its new commander after a change-of-command ceremony at Camp Humphreys on Friday.

The four-star general will command more than 28,500 American troops in South Korea, the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command (CFC) and the United Nations Command. LaCamera most recently served as commander of the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), the army component of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) since Nov. 2019.
