60 years on, China-North Korea treaty still important for cooperation and peace

Despite provisions for military assistance, the agreement also provides a basis for two sides to prevent war

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the signing of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, an agreement that still has far-reaching significance for the future development of the two countries’ bilateral relations.

There is no doubt that two sides will extend the treaty for another 20 years on July 11, though celebrations will be limited due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
