Fertilizer, oil account for most Chinese exports to North Korea in May

North Korea may be preparing for increased farming activity during severe food crisis

Fertilizer and refined oil took up the majority of Chinese exports to North Korea this past May, new Chinese customs data shows.

According to China’s General Administration of Customs (GAC), China officially exported $2.7 million worth of goods to North Korea in May. The fertilizer chemicals urea and diammonium phosphate took up around three-quarters of the total export volume.
